Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Greenfield airport of Arunachal Pradesh near the state capital Itanagar on November 19, 2022.
The Donyi Polo airport located at Hollongi will boost connectivity, trade and tourism in the hilly northeastern State.
This is Arunachal’s third airport after Tezu and Passighat and the 16th airport for the northeast.
He also dedicated to the nation the 600 MW Kameng hydro power station in Itanagar.
Airport’s name reflects the age-old indigenous reverence to Sun (‘Donyi’) and the Moon (‘Polo’) in Arunachal Pradesh.
