  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7 August 2023, attended the 9th National Handloom Day celebrations at Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
  • During the event, Mr Modi will also launch the e-portal of 'Textiles and Crafts Fund of India', developed by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). 
  • More than 3000 handloom and khadi weavers, artisans, and stakeholders from textile and MSME sectors participated in the event.
  • It will bring together handloom clusters, NIFT campuses, weavers' service centres, Indian Institutes of Handloom Technology, National Handloom Development Corporation, Handloom Export Promotion Council, KVIC institutes and various state handloom departments across India.
