Pat Cummins, fresh off leading Australia to multiple cricketing triumphs, including the World Test Championship and the ICC ODI World Cup, is set to take on the captaincy role for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, replacing Aiden Markram.
Cummins, acquired by SRH for a record-breaking INR 20.50 crore in the IPL auction, returns to the league after a year's hiatus, during which he focused on preparing for the ODI World Cup.
This season marks Cummins' first stint as an IPL captain, with SRH banking on his recent successes and leadership prowess across formats. The decision comes after a disappointing 2023 season for SRH, where they finished at the bottom of the points table under Markram's captaincy.
