The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024 was passed by Parliament.
The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024 has been cleared by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, amending the 1974 Act to address water pollution.
The Bill decriminalises certain violations related to water pollution.
Fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15 lakh have been imposed for violation of a polluting substance in water bodies.
