·         ‘Kilauea volcano’, one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, erupted on the Big Island of Hawaii.

·         The volcano reportedly erupted within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, posing no threat to nearby homes.

·         Officials from the US Geological Survey also confirmed that the eruption has begun in Kilauea's Halemaumau Crater, the summit of the volcano.

·         The eruption of the Kilauea volcano in 2018 was the largest in centuries and was accompanied by a massive summit collapse.

·         The 2018 volcanic activity in the United States was the most destructive since the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
