Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has been conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, recognising his outstanding achievements and service to the nation. The honour, effective from April 16, 2025, celebrates Neeraj’s excellence in athletics and dedication to India. Chopra began his military journey in 2016 with 4 Rajputana Rifles as a Naib Subedar and made history by winning India’s first Olympic gold in javelin throw at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
