Recently Nepal has recognized gay marriage.
It has become the first country in South Asia to do so.
Same-sex marriage was allowed by the Supreme Court of Nepal in 2007.
In this regard, the Constitution of Nepal, adopted in 2015, also clearly states that there can be no discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
Maya Gurung and Surendra Pandey became the first couple in Nepal to get recognition of same-sex marriage.
