  • It has become the first country in South Asia to do so.
  • Same-sex marriage was allowed by the Supreme Court of Nepal in 2007.
  • In this regard, the Constitution of Nepal, adopted in 2015, also clearly states that there can be no discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
  • Maya Gurung and Surendra Pandey became the first couple in Nepal to get recognition of same-sex marriage.
