Nepal and China’s armed forces commenced the fifth edition of the joint military exercise “Sagarmatha Friendship-2025” in Kathmandu from 6 to 16 September 2025. The primary objective of the exercise is to enhance counter-terrorism capabilities, disaster management, and cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping operations. The exercise includes activities such as counter-terrorism operations, war strategy drills, disaster relief exercises, joint operations, and knowledge-sharing sessions. The Sagarmatha Friendship exercise has been held since 2017 and takes place alternately in Nepal and China.
