Republic Day was celebrated at Nepal Army Pavilion, Tundikhel in Kathmandu in the presence of Nepal President Ramchandra Poudel
Elections to the Constituent Assembly were held in Nepal on April 10, 2008 and nepal was declared a republic on May 28, 2008 through the first constituent assembly meeting, ending 240 years of monarchy
On this day, the republican system of governance was adopted
