  • Neiphiu Rio, the chief of the nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), was sworn in as the fifth chief minister of Nagaland.
  • Taditui Rangkau Zeliang and Yanthungo Patton took oath as Deputy chief ministers of Nagaland in Kohima.
  • Rio won the Northern Angami-II Assembly constituency, trouncing Seyievilie Sachu of the Congress by a mammoth margin of 15,824 votes. 
  • He bagged a total of 17,045 votes, which comes to 92.87 per cent of the total votes polled in the seat.
  • The BJP-NDPP alliance bagged 37 seats in the in 60-constituency Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections 2023.
  • For the first time in the 60-year history of Nagaland assembly elections, a woman legislator has been elected. A total of 13 assembly elections have been held in Nagaland so far.
