The 23rd edition of the bilateral naval exercise Varuna will be held from March 19 to 22, 2025, as a testament to the permanent maritime partnership between India and France.
Since its inception in 2001, Exercise Varuna has evolved as a cornerstone of cooperation, reflecting the commitment of both countries to enhance naval engagement and operational synergy.
This year's edition is expected to feature an exciting series of maritime exercises and complex maneuvers under the water, on land, and in the air.
The joint participation of aircraft carriers Vikrant and Charles de Gaulle, along with their fighter jets, destroyers, frigates, and an Indian Scorpene-class submarine, truly highlights the collaborative capabilities of both navies.
Advanced air defense and combat exercises will be held during naval exercise Varuna 2025, which will also include air-to-air engagements between French Rafale-M and Indian MiG-29K, designed to hone tactical and operational capabilities.
