National Education Day 2025 will be observed on November 11 to honor Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister and a visionary who shaped modern Indian education. Born in 1888, Azad was a freedom fighter, scholar, and advocate of unity and secularism. As Education Minister, he promoted universal primary education, established institutions like the UGC and IITs, and founded the Sahitya, Lalit Kala, and Sangeet Natak Akademis. Awarded the Bharat Ratna (1992), Azad’s legacy inspires India’s commitment to inclusive, quality, and equitable education for all.
