The RRB OR Railway Recruitment Board holds RRB ALP and Technician Exams to hire Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians for various railway zones all across the country.
Although this is a national-level test, RRB posts openings for individual zones separately. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online for RRB ALP and Technician by using the official website.
For the RRB ALP and Technician exam, applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 28 years. The RRB ALP and Technician exams are being conducted in multiple phases, First stage Computer Based Test (CBT), Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT for ALP Post), and Document Verification.
Aspirants must pay Rs. 500 for GEN/OBC/Other candidates and Rs. 250 for SC/ST/PWD candidates to fill out the application form for the RRB ALP and Technician exam.

Educational Qualifications for Railway RRB ALP Exam
(A) FOR Railway RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot)
Matriculation or SSLC plus ITI from NCVT/SCVT recognized institutes in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder/ Fitter/ Heat Engine/ Electrician /Electronics Mechanic /Instrument Mechanic /Mechanic Motor Vehicle/ Machinist /Mechanic Diesel /Millwright Maintenance Mechanic /Radio & TV Mechanic /Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (AC) Mechanic /Turner /Wireman /Tractor Mechanic (OR) Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trades after completing matriculation or SSLC course. (OR) A three-year diploma in Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Automobile Engineering (OR) a combination of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized institution in lieu of an ITI.
Note: A degree in the above-mentioned engineering disciplines will be accepted in lieu of a diploma in engineering.
(B) FOR Railway RRB Technician Categories
Matriculation or SSLC plus ITI from NCVT/SCVT recognized institutes in the trades-related post. (OR) Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trades after completing matriculation or SSLC course.
Age limit for Railway RRB ALP Exam
The age limit of the applicants should be from 18 years to 28 years.
* Candidates must have been born between the dates of 02 July 1990 and 01 July 2000 (both days inclusive).*

Eligibility Criteria for Qualifying:
Minimum percentage of marks required for eligibility in various categories:
• UR - 40 percent
• OBC - 30 percent
• SC - 30 percent
• ST - 25 percent
These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates if there is a shortage of PWD candidates to fill seats reserved for them.
Part-B
• This is a qualifying section.
• There are a total of 75 questions.
• This exam has a total time limit of 60 minutes.
• 35% is the qualifying mark. (This applies to all candidates, and no exceptions are permitted.)
**Candidates with an ITI or Trade Apprenticeship qualification must appear in the session including trade-specific questions.**
**Candidates with a Diploma, Degree, or HSC (10+2) who are eligible for ALP posts must select a trade from the list of trades available for their engineering discipline or HSC (10+2).**

Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP)
• Candidates must pass each of the Computer Based Aptitude Test batteries in order to be considered for the position of ALP.
• The Computer Based Aptitude Test will only include questions and answers in English and Hindi.
• In Computer Based Aptitude Test, there will be no negative marking.
• To qualify, the candidate must obtain at least 42 marks on each of the test batteries. This applies to all candidates, and no exceptions are permitted.
• The ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) merit list will be drawn only from applicants who pass the Aptitude Test, with 70 percent weightage given to marks acquired in Part A of the Second Stage CBT and 30 percent given to marks obtained in Computer Based Aptitude Test.
Document Verification for Railway RRB ALP and Technician
• Candidates who pass all stages are invited by the various RRBs for document verification.
• On the day of document verification, candidates must bring the genuine documents requested by RRBs.
• If a candidate fails to submit original documents or if a document is found to be faked, his or her participation will be terminated.
