  • The Union government has decided to rename Mount Harriet, an island peak in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, as a homage to Manipur's liberation heroes. Mount Manipur will now be its name.
  • The state of Manipur was the only one to enact its own constitution.
  • During the Anglo-Manipuri conflict, Maharaja Kulchandra Singh of Manipur and 22 other freedom warriors were imprisoned on Mount Harriet, the third-highest island peak in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago (1891).
