  • Kristy Coventry was elected the new president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 144th IOC session held in Costa Navarino, Greece. 
  • She became the 10th president of the IOC and is the first woman and African member to reach this position. 
  • Coventry will assume office on June 23, 2025, while the current president Thomas Bach will become honorary president after completing his term.
