  • With the GI tagging of Kashmiri Saffron in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the farmers have been able to market their produce on national and international marketing platforms.
  • E-auctioning and GI tagging facility has helped our products to reach global markets like Dubai and other international destinations.
  • Kashmir saffron, which is cultivated and harvested in the Karewa (highlands) of Jammu and Kashmir, has been given the Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the Geographical Indications Registry in 2020. 
  • The spice is grown in some regions of Kashmir, including Pulwama, Budgam, Kishtwar and Srinagar.
  • The saffron available in Kashmir is of three types — Lachha Saffron, Mongra Saffron and Guchhi Saffron.
