Indian-origin scientist Deep Jariwala has been appointed as UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair for Quantum Devices.
Currently a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, he will join University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in January 2027.
Known for his work in quantum materials, microelectronics, and next-generation computing, he has over 180 publications and multiple patents.
The appointment aims to strengthen the US quantum research ecosystem through joint academic and national lab collaboration.
