  • Karuppur kalamkari paintings and Kallakurichi wood carvings of Tamil Nadu have received geographical indication (GI) tags for their traditional dye-painted figurative and patterned cloth.
  • Kallakuruchi wood carvings are created with pens, palm stems, date trees, bamboo stick brushes, and coconut tree stems.
  • The Geographical Indications Registry granted this certificate based on an application filed by Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation (Poompuhar).
