Karnataka set a new benchmark in organ donation in 2025, registering 198 donors, the state’s highest-ever annual tally ranking third nationally after Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Coordinated by Jeevasarthakathe (SOTTO), the donations retrieved 306 kidneys, 288 corneas, and 167 livers, among other organs. While Bengaluru contributed the majority, authorities plan to expand district-level participation in 2026. The milestone reflects growing public awareness and improved hospital coordination, though around 5,500 patients in the state still await transplants.
