  • The world's first artificial embryo has been created.
  • Scientists at the Weizmann Institute in Israel did not need any fertilized eggs or any sperm for this.
  • The embryos created by the scientists at Rehovot’s Weizmann Institute of Science are “synthetic” because their creation didn’t involve an egg or sperm, or even a mouse’s uterus.
  • In research published in the journal Medical Science, the team developed embryos from rat stem cells. It was kept in the laboratory in a special kind of vessel for years. From which a complete embryo has developed from the parent cells itself.
