Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that former US President Donald Trump will be awarded Israel’s highest civilian honour, the Israel Prize for Peace, following high-level talks in Florida. The decision is unprecedented, as the prize has never before been awarded to a non-Israeli, nor has the Peace category been formally conferred. Israel cited Trump’s role in Middle East diplomacy and support for Israel. The award follows a July 2025 rule change allowing foreign recipients.
