International Volunteer Day is celebrated every year on 5 December.
It was passed by resolution in the United Nations Assembly on 17 December 1985.
This day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1986.
The day is a global celebration of people's collaboration to create change at all levels (local, national and international).
The theme of International Volunteer Day 2023 has been 'The Power of Collective Action: If Everyone Did'.
The day mobilizes volunteers globally, promoting collaboration with partners and government organizations to promote and sustain domestic volunteerism.
