International Happiness Day is celebrated every year on 20 March, was declared by the United Nations (UN) in 2012, emphasizing happiness as a key factor in a healthy and fulfilling life.
The UN links happiness to human rights, well-being, and environmental sustainability, incorporating it into policy frameworks under the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The theme for this year’s International Day of Happiness is “Caring and Sharing,” as highlighted in the 2025 Happiness Report, emphasizing the importance of compassion and community in fostering global well-being.
