International Day for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence is observed every year on 18 November to raise awareness about child sexual exploitation.
The second edition of this day is being celebrated in the year 2023.
The proposal to celebrate this day was announced by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 2022.
This proposal was put forward in the General Assembly by African countries Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
The day promotes public awareness of those affected by child sexual exploitation and the need to prevent and end child sexual exploitation, abuse and violence, and the imperative to hold perpetrators accountable.
