  • India's first industrial design of a solar-powered hyacinth harvester developed by scientists at the International Institute of Semi-Arid Tropical Crops Research (ICRISAT) has been approved. 
  • According to ICRISAT, the harvester is simple and inexpensive. It can be easily operated by semi-skilled or unskilled workers. 
  • This solar power device has been designed and manufactured indigenously. In terms of prioritizing clean energy, this device reduces savings, time and labor by 50 to 60 percent.
