  • Star gymnast Dipa Karmakar has been handed a 21-month ban for failing a dope test conducted by the International Testing Agency.
  • Dipa tested positive for higenamine, a Beta-2 Agonist, which means it is prohibited for consumption at all times, both in and out of competition.
  • Her ban period will, however, end on July 10 this year as it was counted from the day the sample was collected.
  • Her last FIG event was the 2019 World Cup in Baku.
  • International Testing Agency is an independent non-profit organisation that handles anti-doping test procedures for the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
