  • Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, during his budget speech on March 11, announced that India's first medical city would be set up in a rural area of Pune district.
  • It will be named 'Indrayani Medicity'.
  • Medicity will consist of about 24 different hospital buildings, each with a department.
  • It will also have medical education and research institutes, and provide treatment to citizens at affordable rates.
