Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated India’s first aluminium freight rake at Bhubaneswar railway station.
The First Aluminum Freight Rake – 61 BOBRNALHSM1, was flagged off by the minister and the rake’s destination is Bilaspur.
These racks have been prepared with the help of RDSO, BSCO and Hindalco.
This rake is lighter than before but has a higher freight carrying capacity.
The life of aluminum rack is also 10 years more than normal rack, which also has lower maintenance cost as it has more resistance to corrosion and abrasion.
