Daily Current Affairs / India Revives Bid for UNESCO Heritage Tag for Sarnath
Category : National Published on: September 19 2025
India has renewed efforts to secure UNESCO World Heritage status for Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon. Sarnath, on UNESCO’s tentative list since 1998, is nominated for the 2025–26 cycle, with the move highlighting India’s focus on indigenous contributions and heritage authenticity.
