India’s Department of Fisheries signed a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to strengthen Blue Port infrastructure. Pilot projects at Vanakbara (Diu), Jakhau (Gujarat) and Karaikal (Puducherry) will be upgraded with advanced technologies like 5G, AI, automation, and eco-friendly measures under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The initiative aims to make fishing ports smart, sustainable, and socially inclusive, boosting economic growth and community empowerment in India’s fisheries sector.
