India has surpassed Sri Lanka to become the world's second-largest tea exporter, exporting 255 million kg of tea in 2024, with Kenya holding the top position.
India's tea exports in 2024 reached a 10-year high, registering a 10% increase compared to 2023.
The Indian government has introduced welfare schemes for tea-growing families, forming 352 self-help groups, 440 farmer-producer organizations, and 17 farmer-producer companies, along with setting up mini tea factories to boost employment and innovation.
