Recently, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has sent a proposal for artificial rain to tackle pollution in Delhi-NCR.
This proposal has been sent to Delhi Government.
IIT. Kanpur has been working for more than 5 years on creating the necessary conditions for artificial rain and it was successfully tested in July.
The researchers have received permission from government authorities, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, for cloud seeding.
Artificial rain requires specific meteorological conditions, such as the presence of clouds with sufficient moisture and suitable winds.
Silver iodide, potassium iodide and dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) are the most common chemicals used for cloud seeding.
