The Advocate General's Department is the judicial and legal wing of the Army.
This department is the judicial system for officers of all ranks of the army.
This department is celebrating its 40th Corps Day in the year 2023.
On this day in 1949, the Army Act Bill was brought in the Parliament.
Being the legal branch of the Indian Army, it deals with disciplinary matters and litigation related to the Army.
The Judge Advocate General is the legal advisor to the Chief of the Army Staff on matters of military, martial and international law.
They also assist the General Military Assistant in matters relating to discipline related to the application of law.
