External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently highlighted India’s deepening engagement with the countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA) during a meeting of foreign ministers from India and SICA countries. The SICA countries include Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. The meeting prioritized cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, digital payments, agriculture, renewable energy, IT, and pharmaceuticals. India also offered SICA countries to adopt successful digital payment technologies like UPI, aimed at enhancing financial inclusion and transparency in their economies.
