· Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been sworn in for a new five-year term. His government has been facing several challenges over the past several days, including a month-long conflict in the northern region of the Tigre.
· Abiy Ahmed received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for restoring ties with neighboring Eritrea.
· Ethiopia's economy has been greatly weakened by the 11-month-long war.
