  • ER Sheikh was appointed as the first Director General of the Directorate of Ordnance (Coordination and Services), which has been set up to replace the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).
  • According to the Defence Ministry, the Ordnance Directorate is the OFB's successor organisation.
  • ER Sheikh is an Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS) officer of the 1984-batch. Sheikh has worked for the establishment of the modern production line system for the manufacture of small arms and ammunition at the Ordnance Factory Varangaon.
