Banana pseudo stems have been used to make an eco-friendly wound dressing material, providing a sustainable and effective solution for wound care.
Banana cultivation in India is the largest in the world, due to which the pseudo stems of banana are available in abundance.
Scientists from autonomous institutions like the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) have developed this excellent wound dressing material.
The dressing material uses organic polymers such as chitosan and guar gum, which combine antioxidant properties to form a multifunctional patch.
This research has recently been published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, further highlighting its importance.
