  • Banana cultivation in India is the largest in the world, due to which the pseudo stems of banana are available in abundance.
  • Scientists from autonomous institutions like the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) have developed this excellent wound dressing material.
  • The dressing material uses organic polymers such as chitosan and guar gum, which combine antioxidant properties to form a multifunctional patch.
  • This research has recently been published in the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, further highlighting its importance.
