  • Former Karnataka High Court Judge, Justice Krishna Bhat has been appointed as the administrator of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) to conduct the elections for the Federation following the guidelines of National Sports Code and Model Election Guidelines (MEG). 
  • Justice Krishna Bhat will continue as the administrator till the newly elected body shall take over the charge of the federation.
  • The order was originally passed by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav which stated the term of the election of the current body has already expired in February.
  • Several petitions have been filed before the Court by State Basketball association that challenged the BFI's election process and the decision of the returning officer therefore and for this, the petition sought the supervision of a retired High Court or Supreme Court Judge.
