· According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclonic storm 'Gulaab' took the form of cyclone 'Shaheen' on the Gujarat coast.
· From October 1, it will turn into a new cyclone named 'Shaheen'. Fishermen and ships have been cautioned not to venture into the north and adjoining central Arabian Sea and near Gujarat and north Maharashtra coasts.
· 'Shaheen' is a common name in the Middle East, meaning 'Royal White Falcon'. Qatar proposed this name!
· Cyclone Shaheen is the eighth name to be used in the new list of cyclone names for the North Indian Ocean that began in 2020. Shaheen is the fourth cyclone of 2021 over the North Indian Ocean and is expected to be relatively mild compared to the first two - Taucate and Yaas.
