  • India and the U.S. have signed a Cultural Property Agreement (CPA) to prevent the smuggling of Indian antiquities. So far, 588 artifacts have been repatriated from the U.S., including 297 in 2024.
  • The CPA includes provisions for technical assistance, cooperation against illegal trade, and promoting mutual understanding. India also collaborates with UNESCO and Interpol as needed.
