· The nation celebrates Engineer's Day on 15 September to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Indian engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
· This day is celebrated to recognize the contribution of engineers in the development of the nation.
· He was awarded with the 'Bharat Ratna' in 1955 for his exceptional contribution to the making of India.
· He has also been awarded the British Knighthood and served as the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918.
