  • China has successfully launched a new satellite to test and verify methods for reducing space debris. The satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province, southwest China.
  • Shijian-21, the satellite, was launched with the help of a Long March-3B carrier rocket and successfully entered its intended orbit.
  • Shijian ("practise") satellites are satellites that demonstrate technology in general. Shijian-17 is an experimental communication and broadcast satellite that was launched in 2016 by the first Long March 5 heavy-lift rocket.
  • It also carried out rendezvous and proximity operations in geostationary orbit.
