  • The central government approved the Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib ropeway projects on March 5, 2025. The cabinet has approved the development of the ropeway project under the National Ropeway Development Program from Sonprayag to Kedarnath (12.9 km) and from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib Ji (12.4 km) as part of the Parvatmala project.
  • One will connect Sonprayag and Kedarnath, while the other will connect Govindghat and Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. These ropeways, which will be built at a cost of 7,000 crores under the National Ropeway Development Program as part of the Parvatmala project, will reduce travel time to pilgrimage sites located at an altitude of over 3,500 meters above sea level.
