  • Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal to establish a new brownfield ammonia-urea complex with an annual urea production capacity of 1.27 million metric tons (LMT) at the existing premises of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL), Namrup, Assam. 
  • The estimated total project cost is ₹10,601.40 crore and the debt-equity ratio is 70:30. 
  • The Assam government (40%), BVFCL (11%), HURL (13%), NFL (18%), and OIL (18%) will invest in this project, with NFL receiving an exemption on the equity limit.
