The Indian Army recently conducted a divisional-level integrated training exercise, codenamed Exercise Buland Bharat, in the high-altitude ranges of the eastern theatre in Arunachal Pradesh.
The purpose of the month-long exercise was to verify plans for reducing integrated firepower through coordinated firing of artillery guns and fire support components of Infantry towards the destruction of designated targets.
During the exercise, the synergised surveillance and firepower from Infantry and Artillery radars, weapon systems, and direction of fire from the air were practiced.
Troops and equipment were "tested in mock combat conditions" during the exercise after a month's training in high altitude areas and extreme weather conditions.
Just last month, the Army and IAF launched "multi-mode rapid insertion" of special forces as well as specially designated and equipped units in the eastern theater by the C-17 Globemaster-III as well as strategic airlifters such as the Chinook. In which the Mi-17 helicopter was also involved.
