  • The Indian Army recently conducted a divisional-level integrated training exercise, codenamed Exercise Buland Bharat, in the high-altitude ranges of the eastern theatre in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The purpose of the month-long exercise was to verify plans for reducing integrated firepower through coordinated firing of artillery guns and fire support components of Infantry towards the destruction of designated targets.
  • During the exercise, the synergised surveillance and firepower from Infantry and Artillery radars, weapon systems, and direction of fire from the air were practiced.
  • Troops and equipment were "tested in mock combat conditions" during the exercise after a month's training in high altitude areas and extreme weather conditions.
  • Just last month, the Army and IAF launched "multi-mode rapid insertion" of special forces as well as specially designated and equipped units in the eastern theater by the C-17 Globemaster-III as well as strategic airlifters such as the Chinook. In which the Mi-17 helicopter was also involved.
