The Inland Waterways Authority of India launched “Bistirna Parore: A Musical Voyage from Sadiya to Dhubri” to celebrate the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Named after his iconic song on the Brahmaputra, the journey features cultural programs, folk performances and musical tributes at key stops including Bogibeel, Silghat, Guwahati, and Jogighopa. Remembered as the “Bard of the Brahmaputra,” Dr. Hazarika’s legacy of unity, peace, and brotherhood is being honored through this initiative, which seeks to inspire and connect communities across Assam.
