  • In Weightlifting, India’s Bindyarani Devi has clinched a silver medal in the women’s 55kg category at the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023 in Jinju, South Korea. 
  • Sorokhaibam Bindyarani Devi has registered a combined lift of 194 kg to finish second on the podium. 
  • China’s Chen Guan Ling won the gold medal with a combined lift of 204 kg.
  • Bindyarani, a silver medallist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, started the competition by clearing 80 kg in the snatch event, before raising it to 83 kg in her second attempt. She was unable to clear the 85 kg mark she had set for herself in the third lift.
  • The Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023 is the second in the series of qualifying events for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
