Dr. Baba Adhav, a legendary socialist leader and champion of labour rights in Maharashtra, has passed away at the age of 95 in Pune. Known for his decades-long work for workers in the unorganised sector—including hamals, rickshaw drivers, construction labourers and other informal workers—he devoted his life to social justice and dignity for marginalised groups. He played a major role in building worker-led initiatives like the Hamal Panchayat and launched transformative movements such as the ‘One Village – One Water Source’ campaign.
