The Assam Cabinet has approved a 3% reservation in Class I and II state government jobs for tea tribes and Adivasi communities under the OBC quota, extending benefits previously limited to Grade III and IV posts. The move covers state civil services and professorial positions, with the new provision applying immediately for ongoing recruitments and from next year for higher-level posts.
The Cabinet also expanded the Mission for Minority and Underprivileged Areas (MMUA) scheme, adding 1,07,532 women beneficiaries, promoting entrepreneurship and financial inclusion. So far, 32 lakh women have received ₹10,000 each under the initiative.
