  • Shri Arun Goel has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Croatia.
  • Goyal is a retired bureaucrat. He has earlier served as the Election Commissioner of India.
  • He was appointed election commissioner in November 2022. He resigned from the post in March 2024.
  • Prior to his appointment as Election Commissioner, he served as a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Punjab cadre, after which he took voluntary retirement.
